Abstract: During last decade, the use of traditional medicine has expanded globally and gained popularity. It has not only continued to be used for primary health care of people in developing countries, but has also been used in countries where conventional medicine is predominant in national health care system. The study was conducted in Sukajadi village, Tamansari Sub district, Bogor District, Jawa Barat Province. This village is located close to Curug Nangka tourist forest of Salak Mountain, 700 meter above sea level. The objective of the study was to explore the characteristics of herbalist healers, diversity of medicinal plants and remedies (herbal mixture) of Sundanese herbalist healers at rural area. From nineteen herbalist healers at Sukajadi Village, it was noted that about 117 medicinal plants were used to cure 23 diseases (symptoms). Part of medicinal plant that used most frequently was leaves. The most frequently medicinal plants used for treatment were Coleus scutellaroides (Labiatae), Allium cepa L. (Alliaceae), Zingiber cassumunar (Zingiberaceae), Tamarindus indica L. (Leguminosae), Psidium guajava (Myrtaceae), Allium sativum L. (Alliaceae), Argostemma montanum (Rubiaceae).
