Aplikasi Minyak Daun Cengkih dan Minyak Serai Wangi sebagai Bahan Aktif Antiserangga Alami

Abstract

Insect repellent formula with active ingredient of clove leaf oil and citronella oil has been determined by trial and error method. The formula consists of the active ingredient, rose water, vaseline, distilled water, and tween 80. Parameter tested were emulsion stability test, efficacy test and hedonic test. The results showed that the effectiveness of repellent with active ingredient clove leaf oil and citronella oil is low, but the odor accepted by panelists. Efficacy test showed that the concentration of active ingredient of 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% respectively paralyze flies 0-15% and paralyze mosquitos 8-33%. The higher concentration of active ingredients, causing the higer paralysis percentage of flies and mosquitoes. Hedonic test showed that the formula which contain 5% active ingredient mixture of clove leaf oil and citronella oil has the highest level of preference, by which 77% of panelists accept the formula odor.
