This research aimed to know the changes of physical and mechanical properties of wood in field decay test that contacted to the ground and above ground at Several areas in Bogor City. The sample size of sengon (Paraserianthesfalcataria) and pine (Pinus merkusii) were (20x20 x 150) mm3 and (10 x 10 x 100) mm3 The field decay test was conducted in 16 sub-districts in Bogor City. Some physical and mechanical properties of wood samples were tested and statistically analysed with two factors ANOVA After three months exposure, the physical and mechanical properties of sengon degraded more severely than pine. The ground contact samples decayed more severely than above ground samples. Dry weight lost and oven dry density were affected significantly, while the volume shrinkage from air dry lo oven dry and air dry moisture content were relatively less affected. MOR had better correlation with decay slage than MOE and compression strength parallel lo the gram.en
