Abstract: This research was conducted to observe the anatomy and morphometry include length, diameter, and weight of the male genital organ from 2-4 years old muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak muntjak) during hard antler period. This study used male genital organ that has been preserved with paraformaldehide 4%. The acquired data were analyzed descriptively. Result of this research showed that the length, diameter, and weight of testis without scrotum were 5.01 cm, 2.45 cm, and 1.88 g, respectively. A pair of vesicular gland situated at lateral of ampullae, was 2.25 cm in length, 0.64 cm in height, and weighed at 2.06 g. The prostate gland was not observed macroscopically. Bulbourethral gland has diameter 1.61 cm, height 0.71 cm, and weight 2.39 g. Penis of male muntjac was 30.50 cm in length, fibroelastic, and had sigmoidea flexure. Generally, anatomy of the male genital organ of muntjac was similar to those of the other ruminants like sheep and goats. However the male muntjac was characterized by relatively small size of testis, rudimentary prostate gland, larger bulbourethral gland, and a relatively long penis.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data anatomi dan morfometri yang meliputi panjang, diameter, dan bobot pada organ reproduksi muncak (Muntiacus muntjak muntjak) jantan berumur 2-4 tahun yang berada pada tahap ranggah keras. Organ reproduksi jantan yang telah difiksasi dengan larutan paraformaldehid 4% diamati, didokumentasi, diukur, dan ditimbang. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan panjang, diameter, dan bobot testis tanpa skrotum masing-masing adalah 5.01 cm, 2.45 cm, dan 1.88 g. Kelenjar vesikularis terdapat sepasang di lateral ampula dengan panjang 2.25 cm, tinggi 0.64 cm, dan bobot 2.06 g. Kelenjar prostat tidak teramati secara makroskopis. Kelenjar bulbouretralis memiliki diameter 1.61 cm, tinggi 0.71 cm, dan bobot 2.39 g. Penis muncak jantan bertipe fibroelastik dengan panjang 30.50 cm, dan memiliki fleksura sigmoidea. Secara umum anatomi organ reproduksi muncak jantan hampir sama dengan ruminansia seperti kambing dan domba, namun organ reproduksi muncak jantan memiliki karakteristik yang ditunjukkan dengan morfometri testis yang relatif kecil, kelenjar prostat yang rudimenter, kelenjar bulbouretralis yang besar, dan penis yang relatif panjang.
