Abstract: Avian Influenza (AI) as well known as Avian flu or bird flu, is one of the important disease that occured in birds, especially chickens and caused by influenza virus type A. Vaccines have been used in AI control programs to prevent and eradicate AI from poultry and other birds. The purpose of this research was to study the antibody response to AI H5 in laying hens which vaccinated with AI H5N1 inactivated vaccine isolates 2007. A hundred day old chickens were used in the study. The chickens were divided into two groups, group one were vaccinated with AI H5N1 inactivated vaccine isolates 2007 and group two were unvaccinated as a control group. Serum samples were taken since the day of the study and every two week until ten weeks old. The vaccination were given at week two and six of experiment. The antibody anti AI were measured by Hemagglutinin Inhibition (HI) test. Two weeks after vaccination, 80% chicken of vaccinated group were developed antibody with low titer below protective titer (24). Two weeks after second vaccination, 70% chicken in vaccinated group were able to produce protective antibody titer, but the antibody titer decrease four weeks after vaccination. The result of this study indicated that to induce protective antibody against H5 in laying hens, it need more than two times vaccination.
