| Abstract: | The objective of this study is to analyze sources of the economic growtli, and their effects on the performance of labor market in South Sulawesi, The performance of labor market and economic growth is analyzed by using a simultaneous equation model. The result of the study indicated that, from supply side, total factor productivity (TFP) has significantly given the highest contribution to economic growth, while from demand side, consumption has given dominant effect. TPF in urban industrial sector significantly reduced the job opportunity, while the agricultural and rural industrial sectors significantly supports to.enlarge job opportunity. The sectoral job opportunity is also influenced by dernafid sides of economic growth resources, but only invest~enr2 nd export sectors consistently have positive effect in all sectors, while others even reduce job opportunity in certain sector, especially agricu!tural sector. The economic growth is bascd on consumption and technology (TFP), mainly on capital-intensive technology sector. Furthermore, investment and government expenditure are also biased toward 11011 agricultural sectors so that it emerged growtliunemployment puzzle. |
