Development of IPB Linux Open Source Distribution for Business (ILOSbiz)

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop a Linux distribution, ILOSbiz, targeted for office use. This distribution is built through remastering another established distribution, similar to the previously developed ILOS in 2008. In order to know the needed applications to include in ILOSbiz, a survey was conducted involving 15 IPB staffs. We experimented with OpenSUSE and PCLinuxOS using KIWI Image System and My LiveCD to remaster, respectively. PCLinuxOS with My LiveCD was chosen for the final ILOSbiz as it gave better flexibility in the remastering. Comparison with ILOS shows that ILOSbiz has better hardware support.
