Komunitas Burung Air di Seksi Konservasi Rowobendo, Taman Nasional Alas Purwo dengan Fokus pada Bangau Tongtong (Leptoptilos javanicus Horsfield 1821)

Abstract

The term waterbirds refers to a group of birds that live and stay near water (Sibuae et al 1995), while shorebirds are birds live in coastal. The Lesser adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus. Horsfield 1821) is member of waterbirds from the family of Ciconiidae, order Ciconiiformes (Mackinnon 1996). Population of Lesser adjutant is estimated at no more than 2000 (BirdLife Internasional 2006). This species is protected by the government. And this species need study on their population and behavior. This study aims to identify water bird species in Rowobendo Conservation Block in Alas Purwo National Park (APNP), estimate their abundance and diversity, identify their habitat utilization, estimate Lesser adjunt population and aobserve their behavior in Sadengan, Rowobendo Conservation Block, APNP. The research was conducted in APNP in Rowobendo Conservation Block from mid January to late Februari and mid March to late April 2006. Counting of waters was done by using concentration count in four mudflats: Cungur, Bulu, Bedul and Ngagelan during low tides. Data on Lesser adjunt was collected in Sadengan savana with observation from 05.30 AM until 6 PM WIB
