| Abstract: | It is not a secret that to perform product-oriented research entirely conducted in Indonesia is very difficult. This is likely caused by lack of infrastructure and adequate funding, and relatively poor network among the universities, research institutions and industries. On the other hand, researches in the field of theory and modeling are relatively more "easily" to be done, since there are number of access via the internet to obtain scientific articles. In this paper we present the experience of conducting research from theory to product realization of a sugar concentration sensor based on photonic crystals, through cooperation with companies in Indonesia that also have business in optical manufacturing industry. Initial prototype has been successfully designed and fabricated, and also has shown its agreement with the theory. |
