dc.description.abstractThe fitase gene was successfully transferred into the sugarcane variety PS851 and produced transgenic sugarcane IPB-1. The plants were grown in the field and tested on the efficiency of N and P uptake. Most of all of 20 selected clones at 3 months old have N and P content higher than its isogenic counterpart (PS85 1) especially in the field fertilized with 25% of recommended P fertilizer dose. The N content was also higher in the transgenic plants than the isogenic in the field with 50% recommended P fertilizer dose. This result show that the transgenic sugarcane IPB-1 can reduce the fertilizer uses especially the P fertilizer.en
