| dc.description.abstract | Watershed management issues in Indonesia include declining water quality. To date, management approaches have addressed the symptoms rather than the cause. Land management, including the conversion of native forest to oil palm can adversely affect water sheds. There is a strong commitment from the Government of Indonesia to address land use policy. Extant issues include: land tenure, property rights, the judicial system, and human resource capacity. Addressing these issues will require institutional capacity building through appropriately targeted multidisciplinary research. | id |
