Abstract:	An experiment about the effect of pre emergence herbicides and various kinds of mulch on weed growth and maize yield was done at Kebun Percobaan IPB, Darmaga from June to October 1981. Herbicide treatment with Atrazine (Gesaprim 80 WP), 1.6 a.i/ha showed a significant result to suppress weed growth and increase yield of maize. The effect of mulch type was significant on weed control but nonsignificant on maize yield (4435 kg/ha) were obtained by herbicide treatment which was followed by black polythelene mulch.
