This study was designed to know the amount of xanthone accumulation of mangosteen’s pericarp during fruit development. This experiment was conducted from September 2006 to August 2007 in Leuwiliang for sample taking, and Laboratory of Ecophysiology IPB and Balitro for xanthone analyzing. The experiment was ranged in Completely Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. The experiment consisted of 4 treatments, there were 1-month old fruit after anthesis, 2-month old fruit after anthesis, 3-month old fruit after anthesis, and 4-month old fruit after anthesis. The experimental unit consisted of 12 plants grown up to 30 years old. The result showed that the fruit age did not make significantly different to the amount of xanthone accumulation and 4-month old fruit after anthesis showed higher amount of xanthone than those of the other fruit age.id
