The yield data of rice (Oryza aativa L.) varieties included in two sets of advanced yield trials, were used in the study. Each of the sets consisted of 12 rice varieties. The trials were conducted at 6,3, and 9 locations during the cropping seasons of 1980-81, 1981, and 1981-82, respectively. A randanized block design with four replications was applid to each trial unit, The dry grain yield data of seven rice varieties involved in all trial units were analysed. Bah Bolon was the top yielder with average yield of 4.40 t/ha. PB 50 and C i - tanduy gave average yield of 4.23 and 4,26 t/ha, respectively, The yield of those varieties were not significantly different from that of PB 36 averaging 4.10 t/ha, but significantly higher than that of IR 9209-249-1-2-3-2 averaging 3,42 t/ha. Stability analyses showed that there was no significant difference among the regression coefficients. All deviation mean squares of the varieties were highly significant. However, PB 50, Bah Bolon, and Citanduy showed the deviation mean squares about the same as PB 36 did which was only a half of that given by IR 9209-249-1-2-3-2,id
