| dc.description.abstract | Shoot multiplication and plantlet formation of Asparagus officinalis L. was studied in order to support large scale plantation in Indonesia.. Cultures were grown in MS media supplemented with 0.5 mg/l 2-iP. Auxin : IAA, IBA, and NAA at the rate of 0.25, and 0.5 mg/l, were used. Number of shoots formed reaching an average of 22.8 was obtained in cultures established in 2-iP 0.50 mg/l and IAA 0.50 mg/l, while those in 2-iP and NAA showed the lowest number of shoots. However 92.3 % of the cultures in NAA medium formed roots. Only 10 % of the cultures in NAA medium formed roots. Upon transferring to the soil, 82 % of the plantlets from NAA media survived and showed a normal appearance. After 4 months in the soil, the plantlets reached an average length of 40 cms. | id |
