Abstract: This research was aimed to evaluate the growth rate of giant lizard fed with different protein sources in Ragunan zoo, Jakarta. Twenty giant lizard at Ragunan zoo were randomly (unequal replications) divided into three groups according to the feedstuff. Group 1 : six animals were fed with mujair fish; group 2: seven animals were fed with chicken, and group 3: seven animals were fed with meat. These secondary 1998 data were recorded and for nutrient intakes were recalculated from the feed intakes times the nutrient content of feedstuff. Results showed that relationship between age (week) and body weight (g) followed the equation Y 1 G ::0 44.45 X + 24.58 (mujair fish), Y2G ::0 45.33 X + 10.91 (chicken) and Y3G = 41.27 X + 17.17 (meat), while the relationship between age and body length (em) were YIL:: 3.52 X + 40.76 (mujair fish), Y2L = 3.28 X + 42.17 (chicken) and Y3L = 3.09 X + 42.16 (meat). The relationship between body weight and nutrient (dry matter, protein, fat and energy) intakes were YI DM = 0.07 X - 1.58 ;Y2DM = 0.12 X - 1.96; Y3DM =: 0.09 X + 0.10 for dry matter intakes and Ylprot = 0.13 X - 0.27; Y2 prot = 0.02 X - 0.37; Y3prot = 0.02 + 0.02. fat intakes followed the equations Ylf= 0.01 X - 0.22; Y2f= 0.03 X -0.52; Y3f= 0.02 X + 0.02, while the correlation of body weight with energy (KJ) intakes were Yle = 62.21 X -1344.60; Y2e = 160.57 - 2615.60; and Y3e = 100.97 X + 112.62. The value of~ was more than 0.96 for all equations, -that means X and Y variable has closed relationship. It can be concluded that the growth rate of giant lizard fed with mujair fish was better than the others, eventhough the highest protein consumption of the lizard came from chicken. Dry matter intakes were found to be around 9 % from body weight. Key words: giant lizard, feedstuff. mujair fish. nutrient intakes
