dc.description.abstractThe red jungle fowl (RJF) known the single ancestral form of the domestic fowl inhabits in tropical forest area of Southeast Asia. The natural habitat for production of RJF is secondary forest and oil palm estates. They live in groups, that consist of 3-4 birds females and 1 male per group. The RJF is highly adaptable to inadequate nU~eJlts. Under intensive system. the, behavior of RJF is similar to that of the domestic fowl, were more active and 'agile. The IlJ,F, llSslo'Wer-growth, bird, have maxiJinuD body weight of adult female and male were 1.0 kg and 1.5 kg, resl'ecti'Vely, which were achieved after more than one and half year. Under captivity, the RJF consumed commercial ration, although preferred grains and seeds. The body weight of female and male RJF at 8 weeks was 244.12 g and 283.12 g, respectively, and have better quality of meat than broilers based on protein, fat and cholesterol contents.
