Abstract: Various nitrile substances were selected to find out the best inductor for biosynthesis of enzyme nitrile hydratase of Co~y~lebncferizcUmB T 9. This work showed that Corynebacierizci~U~B T 9 could grow on eight of examined sixteen nitrile ubstances, as inductors. The bacterial colony attained the highest cell biomass, as it grew on acetonitrile, allylcyanide, butyronitrile, and propionitrile. However, the highest nitrile-fnydratase activity was shown by Cloynebacteriunz UBT 9 grown on 2-pentenitrile. The acetonitrile degradation rate by 2-pentenitrile induced cells was five times higher than those by acetonitrile induced cells. The needed cell biomass for the total 10 (5 (vlv) acetonitrile degadation by 2-pentenitrile induced cells was 25 % smaller than those by acetonitrile induced cells.
