Coconut germplasm coUeetions are important source of genetic material for coconut breeding programmes. Genetk variability of those germplasm bave not been studied througbly. Tbis dudy was coadncted to analyse pnetie s i m i i t y of 35 coconut populations fmm Mapanget gennplnsm collection, Nortb Sulawesi based on variability of isozyme banding patterns, coconut type, and nut cdsur and sbapc. The enzymes studied were peroxidase (PER), e s k m (EST), and glutrunate omloacetate transaminase (GOT). Genetic analysis among coeoaut populations sbowed that at 0.25 genetic distance there are six classes of coconut populations. Tbis genetic distance supported the testing result of F1 coconut bybrMs in tbe lleld Therefore, tbis population clrsses by tbe genetk distance could be used as bases in selpctioa of coconut parents for hybridisation.id
