Tiqjauan Aspek Morfologi dan Morfometri Spermatozoa Kerbau Rawa (Bubalus Bubalis) yang Dikoleksi dengan Teknik Masase

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to study the sperm morphology and morphometry of swamp Buffalos spermatozoa kept on swampy river banks of South Kalimantan. Semen was collected from seven buffalo bulls by the massage technique at the accessory gland and ampulla vas deferens region. The collected semen was then stained using 2% eosin. Sperm morphology was evaluated uslng biological microscope, 200 cells for each bull. Morphometry of spermatozoa was conducted by using micrometer, the length and width of sperm head and the length of the tail were measured on 200 cells for each bull. Results of the research indicated that the total sperm abnormality of the swamp buffalo bull was 31,868, with primary and secondary abnormalities of 9,93% and 21,93% respectively. Sperm head length and width was 6,24 0,33 and the 3,31 i 0,37 pm. The total tail length was 42,47 pm with the length of middle; principle piece were 10,07*0,10 Frn and 32,4*1,62 Frn respectively. It is concluded that the sperm morphology of the swamp buffalo kept in river banks of South &dimantan is not better than that of other swamp buffaloes.
