A study of the cerebral cortex and the population density of the brain tissues was conducted on foetal cerebrum of hypothyroid pregnant rat (Rattus norvegicus) induced by 0.6 % (wlv) thiourea in drinking water. There was no alteration of both cerebral cortex and the population density of brain tissues, up to 14 days of gestation period, a decrease in the thickness of the cerebral cortex and an increase in the population density of brain tissues were found on the day of 18, 21 of gestation period and neonatal, respectively (Pc0.05). Foetal neurogliosis occurcd in this study and its location was discussed. Key words : thiourea 0.6 % (wlv), hypothyroid, foetal neurogliosisid
