| dc.description.abstract | East Nusa Tenggara Province is an area affected by drought, where changing climate conditions in the future can affect the drought conditions in the region. Drought in NTT can be identified using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). In this study, a number of model simulations have described future climate conditions under various scenarios, including the SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios from ScenarioMIP, as well as the G6sulfur experiment from GeoMIP. The province of NTT with its monsoonal rainfall pattern experiences quite varied changes in rainfall trends in 2031-2060 for each scenario compared to historical conditions. The SSP2-4.5 scenario shows a decrease in rainfall trends, while SSP5-8.5 shows an increase in annual trends. The G6sulfur experiment shows different results depending on the model used where the CESM2(WACCM) model shows an increasing trend, CNRM-ESM2-1 shows a decreasing trend, while IPSL-CM6A-LR shows no significant change. These projected rainfall conditions are expected to affect the drought conditions in the future. Based on projected SPI, SSP2-4.5 scenario shows an increase in the frequency of drought in the NTT region, while the SSP5-8.5 scenario shows an increase in the frequency but higher severity. G6sulfur shows a slightly lower frequency of drought than other scenarios with the CESM2(WACCM) model showing the lowest value. | - |
