The decline in rice production in Indramayu is caused by environmental pollution resulting from the excessive use of chemical pesticides. Farmers in Bangkaloa Ilir Village want change by supporting environmental issues with environmentally friendly solutions, namely botanical pesticides. This study aims to increase farmers awareness of the ease of using botanical pesticides, compare farmers knowledge before and after mentoring, and identify the effect of extension on behavioral change in Bangkaloa Ilir Village. The method used in this study is a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained through observation and interviews, while quantitative data were obtained through pretests, posttests, and questionnaires. Tests used include the normality test and the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The pretest results showed that only 11.76% or 2 extension participants scored >75, while the posttest results showed 88.24% or 15 participants scored >75. There was a significant increase between the pretest and posttest scores of 76.48%. The results indicate that the extension was able to provide a strong understanding of the benefits and how to use botanical pesticides. A new finding from the research is the effectiveness of a combination of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and leaflets in delivering comprehensive and easily understood material. The implications of this research indicate that extension services designed with a participatory approach can be an effective strategy for encouraging changes in farmer behavior toward sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
