Abstract: RASYID AULIA NURSIDIK.
ABSTRACT RASYID AULIA NURSIDIK. The Use of Two-Door Hoop Net Deck and Hoop Net on Crustacean Catches. Supervised by ZULKARNAIN and MOKHAMAD DAHRI ISKANDAR The low effectiveness of crustacean fishing has encouraged the need for innovation in the construction of traditional krendet, namely a modified krendet that has larger trap space dimensions and a wider catchable area to improve fishing effectiveness. The modified traditional krendet is referred to as the two-door hoop net deck. The bait used is a combination of several types of bait known as bait booster. The objectives of this study are to compare the catch composition between the two-door hoop net deck and the hoop net, to determine the productivity of the fishing traps, to assess the effect of using the two-door hoop net deck on crustacean catches, and to determine the production margin of crustacean catches between the two-door hoop net deck and the hoop net.The method used was experimental fishing, carried out in 29 trips as replications. The results showed that the two-door hoop net deck produced significantly different catches, with a total of 7.86 kg (139 individuals) compared to the hoop net with 0.72 kg (19 individuals). The distribution of crustaceans caught in the traps showed that the lower compartment accounted for 69.1% (96 individuals), while the upper compartment accounted for 30.9% (43 individuals). The production margin of crustacean catches from the two-door hoop net deck compared to the hoop net was 998.2% based on weight (kg) and 631.6% based on the number of individuals.
