Organic waste such as leaves and twigs is one of the problems that are often faced in environmental management. The research aims to design a leaf and twig waste shredding machine and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for operation. The research method includes design, tool manufacturing, and machine performance testing. The shredding machine uses an electric motor with a power of 370 watts, a voltage of 300 volts, and a rotational speed of 1800 rpm and is equipped with four cutting blades. The design results show that the shredding machine is able to process leaves and twigs effectively with a working capacity of 7.5 kg/hour with a final shredding size of 1-2 cm. This shredding machine can process organic waste into smaller sizes. The resulting shredding has a relatively uniform size and a smoother texture, so that organic matter becomes easier to decompose during the compost formation process. In addition, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are prepared to ensure safe and efficient operation of the machine. The conclusions show that the resulting design is able to process leaves and twigs into smaller, uniform pieces as needed in composting. |
