| dc.description.abstract | SHADA DECPADMAVATI. Pemanfaatan Limbah Biomassa Sebagai Bio-Koagulan Untuk Menurunkan Pencemar Pada Limbah Cair Industri Tahu. Dibimbing oleh Ir. Nurul Jannah M.M., Ph.D. Industri tahu menghasilkan limbah cair dengan kandungan bahan organik yang tinggi sehingga berpotensi mencemari lingkungan apabila tidak diolah. Umumnya, pengolahan limbah cair menggunakan koagulan kimia yang cukup mahal dan dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi kesehatan maupun lingkungan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui potensi pemanfaatan biji asam jawa (tamarindus indica), biji alpukat (persea americana), dan kulit jeruk (citrus sinensis) sebagai koagulan alami dalam menurunkan kadar COD, BOD, dan TSS pada limbah cair industri tahu. Metode penelitian menggunakan jar test dengan variasi dosis koagulan (0–5 g/L) dan kecepatan pengadukan (120/40 rpm dan 150/60 rpm). Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa seluruh biokoagulan dapat menurunkan parameter pencemar, dengan hasil paling optimal pada dosis 5 g/L dan kecepatan pengadukan 150/60 rpm. Biji asam jawa menunjukkan efektivitas tertinggi, dengan penurunan TSS sebesar 75,51%, COD sebesar 62,49%, dan BOD sebesar 70,13%. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa limbah biomassa dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif koagulan alami yang ramah lingkungan, mudah diperoleh, dan berbiaya lebih rendah untuk pengolahan limbah cair industri tahu. | - |
| dc.description.abstract | SHADA DECPADMAVATI. Utilization of Biomass Waste as a Bio-Coagulant to Reduce Pollutants in Tofu Industry Wastewater. Supervised by Ir. Nurul Jannah M.M., Ph.D. Tofu production generates wastewater containing high levels of organic matter, which can cause environmental pollution if discharged without treatment. Conventional treatment generally relies on chemical coagulants that are costly and may pose environmental and health risks. This study aimed to explore the potential of tamarind seeds (tamarindus indica), avocado seeds (persea americana), and orange peels (citrus sinensis) as natural coagulants to reduce COD, BOD, and TSS levels in tofu industry wastewater. The jar test method was applied with variations of coagulant dosage (0–5 g/L) and mixing speed (120/40 rpm and 150/60 rpm). The results showed that all biocoagulants effectively reduced pollutant levels, with the best performance at a dosage of 5 g/L and mixing speed of 150/60 rpm. Tamarind seeds provided the highest effectiveness, with reductions of 75.51% in TSS, 62.49% in COD, and 70.13% in BOD. These findings highlight that biomass waste can serve as an environmentally friendly and affordable alternative to chemical coagulants for tofu wastewater treatment. | - |
