| dc.description.abstract | Terumbu karang merupakan ekosistem laut yang sangat produktif dan rumit secara struktural, menawarkan habitat penting bagi ikan karang dan mendorong interaksi ekologis yang saling menguntungkan. Hubungan erat antara morfologi karang dan komunitas ikan menunjukkan bahwa kompleksitas habitat, yang dipengaruhi oleh tekanan lingkungan dan aktivitas antropogenik, berdampak langsung pada kesehatan terumbu karang dan keanekaragaman hayati. Studi ini menyelidiki hubungan timbal balik antara kualitas air, kompleksitas struktur karang, dan komunitas ikan karang di empat lokasi berbeda di Bali, yakni Karangasem (Jemeluk dan Lipah) serta Nusa Penida (Toya Pakeh dan Ped). Data tutupan bentik diperoleh menggunakan metode Underwater Photo Transect (UPT), sedangkan data rugositas dan ikan karang dikumpulkan melalui metode Underwater Visual Census (UVC) sepanjang transek 50 meter. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Principal Component Analysis (PCA) dan Correspondence Analysis (CA). Hasil menunjukkan tutupan karang berkisar antara 23,62% (kategori rendah di Lipah) hingga 44,1% (kategori sedang di Toya Pakeh), dengan 14 famili karang dan 34 genera teridentifikasi. Bentuk pertumbuhan tertinggi yang ditemukan di seluruh lokasi adalah coral massive. Kompleksitas habitat yang lebih tinggi di Nusa Penida (rugositas K2-K5) terbukti mendukung kelimpahan ikan karang yang lebih besar (1038-1343 individu per lokasi) dibandingkan Karangasem (rugositas K0- K4) dengan kelimpahan ikan lebih rendah (806-808 individu per lokasi). Tinggi rendahnya rugositas diakibatkan faktor biotik yakni bentuk pertumbuhan karang dan abiotik yakni substrat bentik perairan. Sebanyak 3.395 individu ikan, yang terdiri dari 174 genera dari 32 famili, tercatat. Famili ikan tertinggi yang ditemukan adalah Pomacentridae. Analisis mengungkapkan bahwa parameter kualitas air tertentu berkaitan dengan bentuk kehidupan karang tertentu. | dc.description.abstract | Coral reefs are highly productive and structurally intricate marine ecosystems, offering crucial habitats for reef fish and fostering mutually beneficial ecological interactions. The close association between coral morphology and fish communities suggests that habitat complexity, influenced by environmental stress and anthropogenic activities, directly impacts reef health and biodiversity. This study investigated the interrelationships among water quality, coral structural complexity, and reef fish communities across four distinct locations in Bali: Toya Pakeh, Ped, Jemeluk, and Lipah. Benthic cover data were acquired using the Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method, while rugosity and reef fish data were collected via the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method along 50-meter transects. Data analysis was performed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Correspondence Analysis (CA). The results showed coral cover ranged from 23.62% (low category in Lipah) to 44.1% (medium category in Toya Pakeh), with 14 coral families and 34 genera identified. The highest growth form found across all sites was massive coral. Higher habitat complexity in Nusa Penida (rugosity K2-K5) was shown to support a greater abundance of reef fish (1038-1343 individuals per site) compared to Karangasem (rugosity K0-K4), with lower fish abundance (806-808 individuals per site). The high and low rugosity were caused by biotic factors, namely coral growth forms, and abiotic factors, namely the benthic aquatic substrate. The fish individuals found are 3,395 individuals, consisting of 174 genera from 32 families. The highest fish family found was Pomacentridae. The analysis revealed that specific water quality parameters were related to certain coral life forms. This study concludes that habitat complexity metrics, particularly rugosity and coral lifeform composition, are stronger predictors of reef fish community structure than the percentage of live coral cover, with important implications for conservation area management. | - |
