Tingkat mortalitas ikan tembang putih meliputi mortalitas total (Z=2,97), mortalitas alami (M=1,72), mortalitas penangkapan (F=1,25) menghasilkan laju eksploitasi (E) sebesar 0,42.
White sardine (Escualosa thoracata) is an economically important fish for coastal communities. However, information on the characteristics that support the management of this species is still very limited. This study aimed to analyze the reproduction and mortality of the white sardine in Cirebon waters as a basis for management. This research was conducted from December 2024 to May 2025. Samples of 343 males and 303 females were obtained by random sampling. The sex ratio of the white sardine was balanced (1:0.88) with male dominance. The spawning season lasted from January to March with the peaking in February. The size at first maturity was 73.53 for males and 77.58 mm for females. Reproductive potential ranged from 1152–11358 eggs with a partial spawning pattern. The estimated mortality rates were a total mortality (Z) of 2.97, a natural mortality (M) of 1.72 and a fishing mortality (F) of 1.25, resulting in an exploitation rate (E) of 0.42.
