Entrepreneurial activity is a key aspect of economic growth, as it can form capital, generate employment, and enhance a country's standard of living. However, significant obstacles included limited access to technology and the so-called "valley of death"—a phase in which 90% of start-ups that failed to attract investors did not survive beyond their first three years. This research aimed to analyze the literature on the application of technological innovations by start-ups in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8, to examine the factors that determined the entrepreneurial performance of Indonesian start-ups, and to formulate an entrepreneurhip development model to support Indonesian start-ups in meeting SDG 8. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to Indonesian start-ups, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), as well as in-depth interviews and expert consultations. The experts included officials from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (specifically the Deputy for Entrepreneurship), owners, managers, and investors of Indonesian start- ups, entrepreneurship academics (including lecturers and business incubator mentors), and members of the start-up community. The data analysis methods included content analysis, a systematic literature review, Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), and Soft Systems Methodology (SSM). The qualitative approach utilized 60 Scopus-indexed sources, while the quantitative approach relied on 259 survey responses from Indonesian start-ups across Indonesia. The study accomplished several findings; firstly, the implementation of start- ups technological innovations involved three levels of technology—high, medium, and low—each of which played a significant role in advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8. The author offers recommendations for start-ups to enhance investment in technological innovation implementation and to improve human resource competencies. Secondly, personal and environmental factors significantly influence entrepreneurial performance, particularly through experiential characteristics. Thirdly, the collaborative and innovative start-up entrepreneurship development model in Indonesia is significant for fostering technology-based innovations that target issues related to SDG 8, specifically economic challenges and the generation of decent employment opportunities. This study has theoretical implications by combining the three aspects of the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) with the Lean Startup approach, resulting in a comprehensive entrepreneurship model that is not only focused on economic profit but also has a positive impact on social and environmental aspects. This strategy is projected to promote long-term growth for new enterprises and contribute significantly to attaining SDG 8, which aims to achieve equitable economic growth, decent job creation, and overall community well-being. vii Practically, the research highlighted the need for ecosystem improvements to support stakeholder engagement, such as access to funding, business mentoring, and technological support. Furthermore, the entrepreneurial model needed to align with the SDGs, particularly SDG 8, which focuses on promoting inclusive economic growth and decent work. Business plans should have incorporated this strategic alignment to ensure sustainability. Human resource development also emerged as a vital investment, with training programs designed to enhance entrepreneurial performance and technological innovation, thereby improving workforce quality and accelerating start-up growth, ultimately increasing their contribution to the economy. |
