Abstract: Tingginya tekanan penangkapan di Laut Jawa mengakibatkan ikan demersal yang tertangkap nelayan berukuran kecil. Ikan demersal sebelumnya dieksploitasi dengan cantrang, namun kebijakan pemerintah alat tangkap tersebut beralih menjadi jaring tarik berkantong (JTB). Salah satu penggunaan JTB terdapat di Pelabuhan Perikanan (PP) Tegalsari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan unit penangkapan JTB di PP Tegalsari serta menilai status pemanfaatan ikan kuniran, kurisi, dan swanggi di Laut Jawa yang merupakan tangkapan dominan JTB. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis Length-Based Spawning Potential Ratio (LB-SPR), berdasarkan data panjang total ikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi JTB di lapangan masih menyerupai cantrang dengan mata jaring diamond. Nilai SPR ikan kuniran sebesar 37%, kurisi 22%, dan swanggi 20%. Hanya kuniran yang layak tangkap secara reproduktif, sedangkan kurisi dan swanggi sebagian besar tertangkap sebelum matang gonad. Pengaturan ukuran tangkap dan perbaikan konstruksi JTB diperlukan untuk menjaga keberlanjutan stok ikan.
High fishing pressure in the Java Sea has led to the dominance of small-sized demersal fish in the catch. These resources were once exploited using danish seine, but the gear has since been replaced by bag seine nets (JTB), one of which operates from Tegalsari Fishing Port. This study describes the JTB fishing unit in Tegalsari and evaluates the exploitation status of sulphur goatfish (Upeneus sulphureus), japanese threadfin bream (Nemipterus japonicus), and purple-spotted bigeye (Priacanthus tayenus) in the Java Sea. The analysis applied the Length-Based Spawning Potential Ratio (LB-SPR) method using total length data from landings. Results show that JTB construction in practice still resembles danish seine with diamond mesh. SPR values were 37% for sulphur goatfish, 22% for threadfin bream, and 20% for purple-spotted bigeye. Only sulphur goatfish were mostly caught above maturity size, while threadfin bream and purple-spotted bigeye were largely captured before spawning. Improving mesh selectivity and enforcing minimum catch sizes are needed to sustain stocks.
