| Abstract: | Sindrom Metabolik (SM) merupakan kumpulan faktor risiko penyakit
positif dengan persepsi status masalah Sindrom Metabolik (SM) (p<0,01) Metabolic Syndrome (MS) is a collection of cardiovascular disease risk factors that occur simultaneously in a person with criteria of experiencing two of four Metabolic Syndrome (MS) criteria. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of adults in Java Island regarding MS, its causes, and prevention. This study used an online cross-sectional study and involved 925 adults in Java consisting of 751 women and 174 men. The study results show that subjects had a good perceptions regarding perception of the meaning (64.2%), causes (83.1%), and prevention (71.1%). Most subjects (69.8%) have a perception that their waist circumference is in accordance with their body size. There were significant differences in the perception component of Metabolic Syndrome (MS), perception of meaning, and the causes of Metabolic Syndrome (MS) (p<0.05). The results of the Spearman's rank correlation test and the Chi-square test indicate that some socioeconomic demographic characteristics of the subjects have a significant positive association with perceptions of meaning, causes, and the appropriateness of perceptions of waist circumference, but are not associated with perceptions of prevention. Furthermore, only the perceived appropriateness of waist circumference was positively associated with perception of Metabolic Syndrome (MS) status (p<0.01). |
