| dc.description.abstract | The high potential of chitosan as a biostimulant in agriculture sector has not yet been matched by efficient production processes. For instance, chitosan-based plant booster products from PT XYZ face several challenges, including long processing times, high production costs, and a high risk of product rejection. This study aims to improve the mixing process in the production of chitosan plant boosters in order to reduce production costs. The improvements were carried out through a stepwise mixing mechanism with necessary iterations, conversion of raw materials into flakes, and the addition of 0.4% lactic acid at the laboratory scale. The results showed a significant effect (a = 0.05) on product parameters, namely pH and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). After scaling up the improved process to 5 L, the best conditions achieved included a dissolution time of 1.5 hours, TDS of 17,800 mg/L, pH of 4.25, density of 1.02 g/mL, viscosity of 2.330 mPa·s, and moisture content of 95.26%, along with an increased production capacity of up to 40 batches per month. Effectiveness tests indicated that the improved plant booster product performed equivalently to the current product in enhancing plant height, while also providing better leaf growth during the early vegetative stage of water spinach (Ipomoea reptans Poir). | - |
