PT Yudhistira Ghalia Indonesia merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang penerbitan dan percetakan buku pendidikan. Permasalahan defect pada proses perfect binding menjadi fokus penelitian ini karena berdampak pada kualitas produk akhir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan jumlah defect, mengevaluasi kestabilan proses, serta menyusun usulan perbaikan terhadap defect dominan. Metode yang digunakan adalah Seven Tools (Checksheet,
Histogram, Diagram Pareto, Peta Kendali, dan Fishbone) serta pendekatan Kaizen 5W+1H. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa defect lem kering merupakan jenis defect paling dominan dengan kontribusi sebesar 25%. Peta kendali menunjukkan seluruh titik proporsi defect lem kering pada periode September-November berada di luar batas kendali, menandakan proses tidak stabil akibat variasi khusus. Faktor penyebab meliputi mesin, manusia, dan metode kerja. Sebagai bentuk perbaikan, disusun instruksi kerja pembersihan sisa lem dan checksheet pemantauan defect untuk mendukung peningkatan kualitas produk secara preventif dan berkelanjutan. PUJA NURMELIYA. PT Yudhistira Ghalia Indonesia is a publishing and printing company specializing in educational books. This study focuses on defects in perfect binding process due to their impact on product quality. The objectives were to identify types and quantities, assess process stability, and propose improvements for the dominant defect. The methods used include Seven Tools (Checksheet, Histogram, Pareto Diagram, Control Chart, and Fishbone), and Kaizen 5W+1H approach. Results showed that dry glue was the most dominant defect, accounting for 25% of total defects. Control chart analysis indicated that the process was statistically unstable due to special cause variation. The root causes involved machine, human, and method factors. As improvement, a glue residue cleaning work instruction and defect monitoring checksheet were developed to support preventive and continuous quality improvement. |
