Abstract: Kekah natuna (Presbytis natunae) merupakan primata endemik Pulau Bunguran yang memiliki status rentan (Vulnerable) dan dilindungi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari sampai dengan April 2025 di Pulau Bunguran, Kabupaten Natuna. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kepadatan populasi, mengidentifikasi ukuran dan struktur kelompok serta nisbah kelamin, serta mengidentifikasi perilaku harian kekah natuna (Presbytis natunae) di Pulau Bunguran. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengamatan langsung menggunakan metode line transect untuk kepadatan populasi dan ad libitum untuk pengamatan perilaku harian. Kepadatan individu dan kelompok masing-masing, yaitu 6,81 individu/km2 dan 1,46 kelompok/km2 dengan rata-rata ukuran kelompok 6,43 individu/kelompok dan nisbah kelamin 1:1,5. Struktur kelompok kekah natuna, yaitu jantan dewasa, betina dewasa, remaja, dan anak dengan jumlah individu paling banyak, yaitu dewasa dan keadaan populasi menurun (regressive population). Perilaku yang paling sering dijumpai, yaitu makan (49,43%). Perilaku lain yang tercatat selama penelitian, yaitu istirahat (21,84%), berpindah (20,69%), vokalisasi (5,75%), dan autogrooming (2,3%). Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendukung data dasar pengelolaan dalam upaya konservasi kekah natuna.
Natuna island surili (Presbytis natunae) is an endemic primate species to Bunguran Island and classified as Vulnerable. This study, conducted from January to April 2025 in Bunguran Island, Natuna Regency. This study aimed to estimated population density, describe group size and structure, determine the sex ratio, and describe the daily activity budget of the species. Direct observation using line transect method was employed to estimate population density, while ad libitum observation was used to study daily activity. The results showed individual and group densities of 6,81 individuals/km² and 1,46 groups/km². The mean group size was 6,43 individuals with a sex ratio of 1:1,5. Group composition consisted of adult males, adult females, juveniles, and offspring, with adults forming the largest proportion of individuals, suggesting a regressive population structure. Feeding was the most frequent activity (49,43%), followed by resting (21,84%), moving (20,69%), vocalizing (5,75%), and autogrooming (2,3%). These findings provide baseline data for future conservation efforts for this endemic primate.
