| Abstract: | Peningkatan penggunaan Internet of Things (IoT) dalam sistem pengamatan lingkungan menuntut solusi komunikasi jarak jauh yang hemat daya dan aman. LoRa (Long Range) merupakan teknologi komunikasi nirkabel yang mampu menjangkau area luas dengan konsumsi daya rendah, namun memiliki kelemahan dalam aspek keamanan data. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan mekanisme keamanan pada gateway LoRa menggunakan algoritma Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) guna menjaga kerahasiaan dan integritas data yang ditransmisikan. Sistem dirancang menggunakan mikrokontroler ESP32 yang terintegrasi dengan modul GSM SIM800L untuk konektivitas jaringan, serta menggunakan protokol MQTT untuk komunikasi data. Enkripsi dilakukan pada sisi transmitter menggunakan AES-256, sedangkan dekripsi dan validasi dilakukan di sisi gateway sebelum data diteruskan ke server. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem mampu melakukan proses enkripsi dan dekripsi dengan benar serta menjaga integritas data selama transmisi. Implementasi ini juga menunjukkan kinerja yang baik dengan waktu pemrosesan yang singkat. Oleh karena itu, sistem yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan keamanan komunikasi LoRa dalam sistem pengamatan lingkungan. The increasing use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in environmental monitoring systems demands long-range communication solutions that are both energy-efficient and secure. LoRa (Long Range) is a wireless communication technology capable of covering wide areas with low power consumption; however, it has weaknesses in data security. This study aims to implement gateway-level security for LoRa using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of transmitted data. The system is designed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with a SIM800L GSM module for network connectivity and utilizes the MQTT protocol for data communication. Encryption is performed at the transmitter side using AES-256, while decryption and validation are carried out at the gateway before forwarding the data to the server. Test results show that the system is capable of correctly encrypting and decrypting data while preserving data integrity during transmission. This implementation also demonstrates good performance with a short processing time. Therefore, the developed system can enhance the security of LoRa-based communication in environmental monitoring applications. |
