| Abstract: | Rumah Pemotongan Ayam (RPA) merupakan fasilitas yang memproses
pemotongan ayam hidup dan menghasilkan dua jenis limbah. Kandungan bahan
sesudah perlakuan biofilter berbahan serabut kelapa. Data kemudian dianalisis
Poultry slaughterhouse are facilities that processes live chickens and produces two types of waste. The high organic matter content in the waste triggers the growth of microorganisms, which causes the decomposition process and the release of unpleasant odors, especially those originating from ammonia gas. This study aims to determine the odor level based on the concentration of ammonia in the air and to evaluate the effectiveness of a biofilter using coconut fiber as a filter medium in reducing ammonia gas emissions in the air at the PT Expravet Nasuba slaughterhouse. The method used involves measuring the ammonia concentration before and after treatment with the coconut fiber biofilter. The data are then analyzed to calculate the effectiveness of odor reduction. The results show that the coconut fiber biofilter is effective in reducing ammonia levels, with an average effectiveness of 91.9% over 75 hours of measurement time. Coconut fiber is an environmentally friendly material and has the potential to be used as an odor control medium in poultry slaughterhouse environments. |
