The process of packaging powdered milk products is a crucial stage in the production process, ensuring product quality and the efficient use of raw materials. This study was conducted to evaluate the problem of overfilling in the process of filling powdered milk with a target weight of 857 grams, and to formulate corrective actions to resolve the problem. Initially, the Upper Spesification Limit (USL) was not set for the checkweigher due to unstable condition of the filling machine. However, after improvements were made to the filling machine component, the company began setting the USL at 870 grams in line with the company’s established standard. The evaluation results indicated that the corrective actions successfully reduced the variation in product weight (from 872 grams to 857 grams) leading to fewer rejected products. The process capability analysis after improvement resulted in a Cpk index value > 1,33 (Capability Process Index), which indicates that the filling process has been successful in stable conditions and is able to meet company standard. This research emphasizes the importance of systematic and sustainable problem-solving to maintain production quality and efficiency. |
