| dc.description.abstract | ntensive soil tillage can decrease infiltration capacity due to the formation of a compacted layer (plow pan) beneath the soil surface. Since 2010, PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) has implemented a deep tillage system (40–60 cm) to break up this layer. However, deep tillage in some locations has actually caused compaction and brought the plinthite layer to the surface. Therefore, a shallow tillage system (0–20 cm) is being re-evaluated as an alternative. This study aims to identify the pattern and constant infiltration capacity of two soil tillage systems in PT GGP Lampung's pineapple plantation. The study was conducted on PT GGP's Research and Development (R&D) land using a split plot design. The results show that the constant infiltration capacity is significantly higher on land with deep tillage than on land with shallow tillage, especially in the first month after tillage. Meanwhile, in the third and fifth months, the difference became smaller. The initial infiltration capacity had the same trend as the constant infiltration capacity due to the plowing treatment. The deep tillage treatment resulted in soil with higher bulk density and lower total pore space and drainage pores. However, deeper plowing still supported high constant infiltration capacity due to a deeper water infiltration zone. Conversely, in shallow tillage treatment, the presence of an undisturbed hard genetic layer and plow pan made the water infiltration zone shallower, thereby inhibiting water movement. These findings form the basis for selecting the appropriate soil tillage system to support sustainable pineapple production at PT GGP. | - |
