| Abstract: | Tingginya produksi limbah zat pewarna biru metilena dapat merusak lingkungan dan mengganggu kesehatan. Penggunaan zeolit alam sebagai adsorben memiliki keterbatasan dalam pengaplikasiannya dalam sistem kolom dan dispersinya pada suatu media padat. Komposit zeolit alam berbasis semen sebagai perekat menjadi alternatif. Pada penelitian ini, dibuat komposit semen/zeolit alam sebagai adsorben penjerap zat warna biru metilena dengan menggunakan campuran zeolit alam asal Nanggung dan semen pozzolan Portland (PPC) sebagai perekat. Spektrum difraksi sinar-X memperlihatkan zeolit Nanggung didominasi oleh fase klinoptilolit dan sebagian mordenit dan kuarsa. Morfologi partikel dikarakterisasi menggunakan mikroskop optik. Kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum komposit semen/zeolit alam (1:1) dan semen/zeolit alam teraktivasi (1:1) masing-masing adalah 54,348 mg/g dan 98,039 mg/g. Adsorpsi biru metilena pada komposit mengikuti model isoterm Freundlich. Komposit semen/zeolit alam memiliki beragam potensi dalam bidang lingkungan.
Kata kunci: adsorpsi, biru metilena, komposit, semen The significant output of methylene blue dye waste might harm the environment and pose health risks. Natural zeolite's use as an adsorbent has limitations in terms of column system use and solid medium dispersion. Cement-based natural zeolite composites as adhesives could be an option. In this study, a cement/natural zeolite composite was created as an adsorbent by combining natural zeolite from Nanggung with Portland pozzolan cement (PPC) as an adhesive. X-ray diffraction examination revealed that the Nanggung zeolite is primarily composed of clinoptilolite, with minor amounts of mordenite and quartz. The particle morphology was characterized by using an optical microscope. The cement/natural zeolite composite (1:1) and cement/activated natural zeolite (1:1) had maximal adsorption capacities of 54.348 and 98.039 mg/g, respectively. Methylene blue adsorption on the composite was consistent with the Freundlich isotherm model. Cement/natural zeolite composites have a wide range of possible environmental applications.
