| dc.description.abstract | Due to its vast home range, large flying fox acts as an important seed disperser. However, massive hunting and land conversion threatens population of this species. Despite large flying fox’s urgent conservation status and important ecological role, its specific habitat suitability remains understudied. This research aims to construct a habitat suitability model (HSM) and investigate related influencing environmental factors for large flying fox population in Bogor, West Java using maximum entropy (MaxEnt) approach. The HSM was built with data from 2012 to 2024. Patterns from the HSM and response curves indicate large flying fox’s preference for urban areas over natural areas. This is presumably due to the species’ effort to avoid potential predation by birds of prey which generally occupy natural areas. While this study provides preliminary insights about the large flying fox’s HSM in Bogor, the findings imply that adding more occurrence data and considering birds of prey presence as an influencing factor will result in a more robust and reliable HSM. | - |
