| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRAK BAHETA. Perbandingan Metode Pelarutan Dolomit dalam Mengekstraksi Magnesium (Mg) secara Selektif. Dibimbing oleh ZAENAL ABIDIN dan TRIVADILA. Dolomit merupakan mineral yang kaya akan kandungan magnesium (Mg) dan berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pupuk untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hara makro sekunder tumbuhan. Tantangan utama dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana mengekstraksi magnesium secara efisien dan selektif, tanpa membawa serta kandungan kalsium (Ca) yang terdapat pada dolomit. Pada penelitian ini, terdapat beberapa metode yang digunakan, yakni pelarutan dolomit dengan asam sitrat dan asam sulfat saja, serta pelarutan bertingkat, yakni penggunaan asam sitrat dan asam sulfat secara bertahap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelarutan dolomit secara bertingkat, dengan penggunaan asam sitrat, diikuti penambahan asam sulfat adalah metode yang paling optimal. Metode ini berhasil mengekstraksi Mg sebesar 20% dengan efisiensi ekstraksi 66%. Namun, jika dilihat dari segi kompleksitas operasionalnya, metode ini memiliki kompleksitas operasional yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan metode pelarutan dolomit dengan sistem asam tunggal karena metode ini terdiri atas dua tahapan dan memerlukan lebih dari satu pelarut. | dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT BAHETA. Comparison of Dolomite Dissolution Methods for Selective Magnesium (Mg) Extraction. Supervised by ZAENAL ABIDIN and TRIVADILA. Dolomite, a mineral rich in magnesium (Mg), holds significant potential as a raw material for fertilizers to meet the secondary macronutrient needs of plants. The primary challenge in this research was to efficiently and selectively extract magnesium without co-extracting the calcium (Ca), which is also present in dolomite. This study explored several methods: dissolving dolomite with citric acid and sulfuric acid individually and a multi-stage dissolution method, which involves stepwise use of citric acid and sulfuric acid. The research results showed that multi-stage dissolution of dolomite, using citric acid followed by the addition of sulfuric acid, was the most optimal method. This method successfully extracted 20% Mg with an extraction efficiency of 66%. However, from an operational complexity standpoint, this multi-stage dissolution method is more intricate than the single-acid dolomite dissolution method.
