This study aimed to evaluate the effects of adding carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) to feed and protease enzyme to drinking water on the performance of IPB-D1 chickens. The experiment used 250 chickens arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments with five replications: P0: Control feed; P1: Pellet feed with 0.5% CMC binder (viscosity 1000–2500 cps); P2: Pellet feed with 0.5% CMC binder (viscosity 1000–2500 cps) + 10 mg L–1 protease enzyme; P3: Pellet feed with 0.5% CMC binder (viscosity 2500–4000 cps); and P4: Pellet feed with 0.5% CMC binder (viscosity 2500–4000 cps) + 10 mg L–1 protease enzyme. The results showed that the addition of 0.5% carboxymethyl cellulose to the pellet diet and protease enzyme to drinking water had no significant effect on feed intake, water intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, or mortality of IPB-D1 chickens. The combination of 0.5% carboxymethyl cellulose in pellet feed and 10 mg L?¹ protease enzyme in drinking water was able to increase the IOFC of IPB-D1 chicken.
