Improving product quality is crucial for maintaining acompany's competitiveness in the manufacturing industry. PT Panata Jaya Mandiri, which produces spin-on filters, faces challenges in maintaining consistent product quality. This study applies the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) method to Improve the quality of spin-on filters by identifying and reducing recurring production defects. The Define stage aims to identify key issues and establish Improvement targets. In the Measure stage, data is collected and Analyzed to evaluate the initial conditions. Next, the Analyze stage is conducted to find the root cause of the defects. The Improve stage includes implementing solutions aimed at reducing or eliminating defects. Finally, the Controlstage is used to ensure the Improvements implemented are sustainable. Based on data before the implementation of the DMAIC method, the product defect rate reached an average of around 4,584 PPM (Parts Per Million), with the highest value of 5,000 PPM in May. After the DMAIC method began to be implemented in June, there was a gradual decrease in the defect rate. In July, the defect rate decreased to 2,745 PPM, then decreased again to 1,908 PPM in August, and reached 1,188 PPM in September. Thus, within three months after the implementation of DMAIC, the defect rate was successfully reduced to around 76% compared to the initial condition. The implementation of the method DMAIC succeeded in improving product quality, reducing production costs and increasing customer satisfaction.
