This observational study was conducted at the Kayumas Plantation of PTPN I, focusing on the pruning of Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) plants. The background of this research is the importance of proper pruning techniques to maintain the productivity and health of Arabica coffee plants, as well as the assumption that a pruner’s length of experience may influence work outcomes. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between a pruner’s work experience and both the quantity and quality of pruning results. An observational method was used, with pruners grouped according to different experience categories (<1 year to 40 years). The results showed that the length of work experience significantly affected the quantity of pruning output and time efficiency. Experienced pruners produced a larger volume of pruned branches and worked more quickly than novice pruners. Conversely, variations in work experience did not significantly affect the quality of pruning results, which remained consistent thanks to ongoing training and supervision. The study concludes that a pruner’s experience is crucial for productivity, while the quality of pruning remains consistent due to continuous training and oversight.
