| Abstract: | Bakteri dapat menghasilkan senyawa bioaktif antimikroba, termasuk antibakteri yang efektif menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri patogen seperti Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, dan Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Senyawa antibakteri bekerja dengan menghambat sintesis dinding sel, permeabilitas membran, aktivitas enzim, serta sintesis asam nukleat dan protein. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri bakteri air laut dalam dari Perairan Banggai menggunakan metode agar plug diffusion. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan lima isolat potensial yang berasal dari genus Brucella, Halomonas, dan Staphylococcus. Pembentukan zona bening terhadap patogen umumnya lebih besar ditemukan pada isolat yang diuji dengan V. parahaemolyticus dari bakteri Gram negatif dan S. aureus dari bakteri Gram positif. Kemampuan isolat bakteri Perairan Banggai dalam menghambat bakteri patogen tergolong dalam kategori lemah hingga sedang. Bacteria can produce antimicrobial bioactive compounds, including antibacterial agents that effectively inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Antibacterial compounds work by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, membrane permeability, enzyme activity, and nucleic acid and protein synthesis. This study aims to test the antibacterial activity of deep-sea bacteria from the Banggai Sea using the agar plug diffusion method. The test results identified five potential isolates from the genera Brucella, Halomonas, and Staphylococcus. Clear zones against pathogens were generally larger in isolates tested with V. parahaemolyticus from Gram-negative bacteria and S. aureus from Gram-positive bacteria. The ability of Banggai waters bacterial isolates to inhibit pathogenic bacteria falls into the weak to moderate category. |
