The genetic crossbreeding program between Cihateup and Pajajaran ducks was conducted to improve the low productivity of local ducks and to harness the genetic strengths of each breed in terms of adaptability and production. West Java, as a central hub of the national duck population, requires a genetic improvement strategy that is well-suited to tropical conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the genetic crosses during the starter phase using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four genetic combinations: P1 (Cihateup? x Cihateup?), P2 (Pajajaran? x Cihateup?), P3 (Pajajaran? x Pajajaran?), and P4 (Cihateup? x Pajajaran?), each with 7 replications over a 5-week period. Observed parameters included body weight, weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that genetic combinations significantly influenced performance, with P3 achieving the best outcomes, while P4 demonstrated competitive and consistent performance, indicating strong potential to support growth efficiency and productivity in local ducks. |
