| dc.description.abstract | Permintaan susu di Indonesia terus meningkat seiring dengan pertumbuhan populasi, namun produksi domestik masih rendah, terutama pada peternakan sapi perah skala kecil. Kandungan energi dan mineral yang tidak memadai dalam pakan membatasi produktivitas sapi perah. Suplementasi pakan dibutuhkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan nutrien sapi perah. Salah satunya dengan penambahan prill fat yang merupakan sumber energi tinggi, serta zinc (Zn) yang merupakan mineral esensial yang mendukung fungsi metabolisme dan fungsi imunitas tubuh. Pemberian dalam bentuk wafer dipilih karena praktis, padat gizi, meningkatkan palatabilitas, dan memperpanjang daya simpan pakan. Strategi ini menjadi upaya efisien dalam meningkatkan produktivitas peternakan sapi perah di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevuluasi pengaruh pemberian wafer suplemen mengandung prill fat dan Zn terhadap produksi, kualitas, dan persistensi susu sapi perah laktasi. Penelitian terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu survei lapang di Desa Mundu, pembuatan wafer suplemen di Laboratorium Industri Pakan IPB, pemberian wafer kepada sapi perah di lokasi survei, serta evaluasi meliputi produksi susu, kualitas susu, persistensi laktasi, konsumsi pakan dan nutrien, serta income over feed cost (IOFC). Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri atas 3 perlakuan ransum dan 6 ulangan: R0 (kontrol), R1 (R0 + 200 g wafer), dan R2 (R0 + 400 g wafer). Variabel yang diamati meliputi konsumsi pakan, konsumsi nutrien, produksi susu, kualitas susu, persistensi laktasi susu, dan IOFC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi wafer mengandung prill fat dan Zn berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi nutrien terutama pada konsumsi lemak kasar (LK) terjadi peningkatan pada setiap perlakuan dengan rataan nilai tertinggi sebesar 3,86 ± 0.01%. Produksi susu sapi perah pada penelitian ini mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 1,72 L dibandingkan sebelum penelitian, diikuti dengan peningkatan nilai persistensi susu sebesar 119,30%. Kualitas susu sapi perah laktasi pada penelitian ini cenderung stabil dengan adanya peningkatan kandungan lemak susu tertinggi sebesar 0,14% dan nilai IOFC tertiggi yang dihasilkan, yaitu Rp32.269 pada perlakuan yang diberi wafer suplemen sebanyak 200 g. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian wafer suplemen mengandung prill fat dan Zn terbaik adalah pada taraf pemberian sebanyak 200 g. Penambahan wafer suplemen mengandung prill fat dan Zn pada 200 g mampu meningkatkan konsumsi pakan dan nutrien pada sapi perah laktasi tanpa mengganggu aktivitas fermentasi rumen. Suplementasi pada taraf 200 g mampu meningkatkan produksi susu, kualitas susu, dan persistensi laktasi. Pemberian wafer 200 g dapat meningkatkan pendapatan peternak dan efisiensi ekonomi dengan biaya tambahan rendah namun keuntungan signifikan. | - |
| dc.description.abstract | Milk demand in Indonesia continues to rise in line with population growth, yet domestic production remains low, particularly among smallholder dairy farms. Inadequate energy and mineral content in feed limits dairy cow productivity. Feed supplementation is necessary to meet the nutritional needs of dairy cows. One approach is the addition of prill fat, a high-energy source, and zinc (Zn), an essential mineral that supports metabolic and immune functions. Supplementation in the form of wafers was chosen due to its practicality, nutrient density, enhanced palatability, and extended shelf life, making it an efficient strategy to improve dairy farm productivity in Indonesia. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplement wafers containing prill fat and Zn on milk production, quality, and lactation persistence in lactating dairy cows. The study consisted of four stages: field survey in Mundu Village, formulation and production of supplement wafers at the Feed Industry Laboratory of IPB University, feeding trials on dairy cows at the survey site, and evaluation including milk production, milk quality, lactation persistence, feed and nutrient intake, and income over feed cost (IOFC). A randomized block design (RBD) was used with three dietary treatments and six replications: R0 (control), R1 (R0 + 200 g wafer), and R2 (R0 + 400 g wafer). Observed variables included feed intake, nutrient intake, milk yield, milk quality, lactation persistence, and IOFC. The results showed that supplementation with prill fat and Zn wafers had a significant effect (P<0.05) on nutrient intake, particularly crude fat intake, which increased across all treatments, with the highest mean value of 3.86 ± 0.01%. Milk production increased by 1.72 liters compared to pre-experiment levels, followed by a 119.30% increase in lactation persistence. Milk quality remained relatively stable, with the highest increase in milk fat content reaching 0.14%. The highest IOFC value, IDR 32,269, was achieved in the group supplemented with 200 g of wafers. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the optimal dose of supplement wafers containing prill fat and Zn is 200 g. This level of supplementation effectively increased feed and nutrient intake in lactating dairy cows without disrupting rumen fermentation. Supplementation at the 200 g level also improved milk production and lactation persistence, along with an increase in milk fat content. Additionally, providing 200 g of wafers contributed to higher farmer income and economic efficiency with minimal additional cost but significant profit gains. | - |
