| dc.description.abstract | Curly chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of the important vegetables produced in Indonesia. Curly chili production in 2024 decreased compared to 2023. One strategy to increase curly chili pepper production is through a plant mutation breeding program. This study aims to obtain information on the effects of gamma ray irradiation on the performance of curly chili pepper and to analyze the diversity of curly chili peppers resulting from physical mutations induced by gamma ray irradiation at various doses. The research was conducted at the Tropical Horticulture Study Center (PKHT) Experimental Farm, Tajur, Bogor City, and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Cilandak, South Jakarta, from December 2024 to June 2025. The experimental design was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with the primary factor being the gamma ray irradiation dose of 0 Gray (G0), 75 Gray (G1), 150 Gray (G2), and 225 Gray (G3). The results showed that gamma ray irradiation significantly affected only the number of seeds per fruit. The highest coefficient of variation values were observed in plant productivity traits at doses of 75 Gray and 150 Gray. This indicates that irradiation doses of 75 Gray and 150 Gray have contributed to providing the highest yield component values for curly chili plants. | - |
