| dc.description.abstract | Jerawat memengaruhi sekitar 9,4% populasi global. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Acne affects approximately 9.4% of the global population. Excessive antibiotic treatment for acne can lead to bacterial resistance. Therefore, alternative anti-acne treatments derived from natural ingredients that are both effective and safe are needed. This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity of surian (T. sinensis) and moringa (M. oleifera) leaf extracts, as well as their combination, in 96% ethanol, methanol, and ethyl acetate solvents against acne-causing bacteria P. acnes and S. aureus using the disc diffusion method. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method. The best antibacterial activities for each extract were observed in the methanol extract of moringa leaves, the methanol extract of surian leaves, and the ethyl acetate combination extract, with inhibition zones of 8,85; 9,02; 7,00 mm (S. aureus), and 6,22; 2,83; 4,75 mm (P. acnes), respectively. The MIC values ranged from 1,25 to 5 mg/mL, and the MBC was observed only for the methanol extract of moringa leaves. The extract shows potential as an antibacterial agent with a mechanism that is likely bacteriostatic. | |
