dc.description.abstractIkan lele (Clarias sp.) merupakan salah satu komoditas akuakultur yang memiliki keunggulan berupa pertumbuhan cepat, toleransi lingkungan tinggi, fleksibilitas dalam penggunaan wadah budidaya, dan bernilai ekonomis tinggi. Salah satu kendala utama pada tahap pembenihan ikan lele adalah rendahnya sintasan hidup, yang salah satunya disebabkan oleh perilaku kanibalisme. Kanibalisme pada stadia benih dapat muncul akibat akumulasi hormon testosteron dari induk yang memicu sifat agresif sejak stadia larva. Upaya pencegahan dapat dilakukan melalui penambahan triptofan dalam pakan untuk menurunkan agresivitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas penambahan triptofan dalam pakan terhadap pengendalian kanibalisme pada benih ikan lele. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan tiga perlakuan, yaitu tanpa penambahan triptofan (kontrol), penambahan triptofan 30 g/kg pakan, dan 60 g/kg pakan. Benih berukuran 9,6±0,3 cm dan bobot 5,2±0,6 g dipelihara dalam bak beton berisi 1.000 ekor per wadah. Pakan diberikan tiga kali sehari sebanyak 5% dari total biomassa. Pemberian triptofan pada pakan dapat menekan tingkat kanibalisme dengan dosis penambahan triptofan sebanyak 30 g/kg pakan.-
dc.description.abstractCatfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the leading aquaculture commodities due to its rapid growth, high environmental tolerance, adaptability to various culture systems, and high economic value. A major challenge in the hatchery phase is the low survival rate, which is partly caused by cannibalistic behavior. Cannibalism at the fry stage may arise from the accumulation of testosterone hormones inherited from the broodstock, which trigger aggressive behavior from the larval stage. A preventive approach can be applied by adding tryptophan to feed to reduce fish aggressiveness. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of dietary tryptophan supplementation in controlling cannibalism in catfish fry. The research employed a descriptive approach with three treatments: no tryptophan supplementation (control), 3%, and 6% per kilogram of feed. Fry with an average length of 9.6±0.3 cm and weight of 5.2±0.6 grams were reared in concrete tanks containing 1.000 fish per tank. Feed was given three times a day at 5% of the total biomass. The addition of tryptophan to the feed was able to reduce cannibalism, with the best result observed at the 3%/kg diet.-
